On February 20, 2026, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and MTN Nigeria Communications PLC announced a strategic partnership to deploy free high-speed Wi-Fi at major international airports in Nigeria, enhancing connectivity and improving passenger experience across key aviation hubs.

The service launched at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos – Terminal 2, and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA), Abuja, with expansion plans for Port Harcourt International Airport, Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, and the Temporary Terminal at MMIA.

Speaking at the launch, FAAN’s Director of Airport Operations, Captain Abdullahi Mahmood, described the initiative as a significant step in modernising Nigeria’s aviation infrastructure through effective public-private collaboration. He noted that improving digital access at airports reflects FAAN’s commitment to closing service gaps and aligning with global aviation standards.

Lynda Saint-Nwafor, Chief Enterprise Business Officer, MTN Nigeria, stated that the partnership reinforces MTN’s commitment to supporting national infrastructure development and expanding digital access in public spaces. She emphasised that enterprise-grade connectivity plays a critical role in transforming shared environments and delivering long-term value.

With the introduction of free airport Wi-Fi at MMIA Lagos and NAIA Abuja, travellers can stay connected while navigating airport terminals, access real-time flight information, manage itineraries, and communicate seamlessly during transit.

Passengers connect by selecting the designated airport Wi-Fi network and completing a simple registration via the FAAN-branded portal, after which they enjoy instant access and seamless reconnection on subsequent visits.

This initiative strengthens Nigeria’s position as a digitally progressive travel destination while reinforcing MTN’s continued investment in smart infrastructure and reliable connectivity solutions.
