GITEX 2025 Nigeria: Driving Africa’s Digital Future from Abuja to Lagos
Date: September 1, 2025
Location: Lagos
GITEX 2025 Nigeria was nothing short of transformative, with MTN at the forefront in both Abuja and Lagos. Across policy discussions, exhibitions, and live showcases, the event reaffirmed Nigeria’s readiness to lead Africa’s digital economy and position itself as a global hub for digital innovation.
In Abuja, the Africa Investment Summit 2025 set the tone with impactful conversations on the nation’s digital future. MTN’s CEO, Karl Toriola, joined leaders including Dr. Bosun Tijani, Minister of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy, to emphasize the role of collaboration between government and industry. He also reaffirmed MTN’s commitment to driving digital transformation in Nigeria by investing in connectivity, skills development, and startups.
The momentum carried into Lagos, where GITEX 2025 lit up two venues simultaneously, Eko Hotel and Landmark Event Centre. At the MTN booth, guests experienced innovation firsthand; from exploring the Dabengwa MTN Data Centre and engaging with Zigi, our AI chatbot, to testing immersive VR simulations and enjoying the playful AI face-swap feature.
We were honored to host Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the Minister of Communications, who joined thousands of visitors in experiencing MTN’s innovation showcase. The summit sessions in Lagos also sparked forward-looking conversations on AI, cloud, sustainability, and the future of work in Africa. MTN’s Chief Information Officer, Shoyinka Shodunke, delivered a powerful keynote address, stressing that “digital transformation isn’t optional, it’s essential for survival.”
Together, Abuja and Lagos highlighted Nigeria’s determination to claim its place as a global digital hub. And at the center of it all, MTN continues to make the future brighter, faster, and more connected through innovation and digital transformation.
