It is a well-known fact that MTN Nigeria has a long history of commitment to youth development in Nigeria. As part of our youth development initiative, we have contributed to the support of musical talents and this is reflected in our long-standing partnership with the Musical Society of Nigeria (MUSON).

This initiative provides annual scholarships worth N250,000 to cover tuition, books, and transportation over 2 years, for eligible musically talented youths to study at the prestigious Musical Society of Nigeria (MUSON). Students are awarded an internationally recognized Diploma in Music on graduation.

In furtherance of our commitments, we commissioned a music studio and donated several musical instruments and laptops to the MUSON School of Music on the 21st of June 2022.

The items donated and commissioned were:

    • Fully equipped music lab
    • 30 high-tech laptops
    • 1 unit of Professional 4 and a half Octaves Marimba, custom series
    • 1 unit of Malltech 4.0 Octave Bob Becker Ragtime Xylophone
    • 1 unit of Viscount Unico 400 Organ – A 3 manual organ with 32 notes pedalboard, 56 Register Tabs plus 7 Orchestral Registers
    • 4 Units of Stentor “Conservatoire” Violin
    • 3 Units of Armstrong USA Trumpets
    • 3 units of Essex EUP-116 Upright Piano

Speaking on the commissioning of the music lab, Executive Secretary, MTN Foundation, Odunayo Sanya, said: “Talent is one thing. But when you have a conducive environment, it enables talent. We want you to wake up every morning and ask yourself the question: what are you doing today? And when you do that, you become more intentional. We’re doing this because we believe in you and we believe you have what it takes to brace global stages and showcase your talent.”
