With more than 48,000 registrations recorded in its eighth edition, the MTN mPulse Spelling Bee continues to provide a platform for young Nigerians to demonstrate their intellectual ability, build confidence and compete through academic excellence.

Following the completion of the first phase of the competition, the 2026 edition progressed to the Regional Finals, with Port Harcourt, Rivers State, marking the start of this next stage.

The Garden City brought its own flavour to the occasion, with the city’s famous bole and fish culture providing a fitting local touch to the experience. But beyond the familiar Port Harcourt charm, the spotlight was firmly on the young contestants, who took on challenging words and put their vocabulary, concentration and spelling abilities to the test.

The Regional Finals brought together some of the brightest young spellers, all competing for a place at the grand finale. At the end of the competition, seven participants emerged as top performers, earning their places at the grand finale in Lagos, where they will compete for the ultimate title.

Through the MTN mPulse Spelling Bee, MTN Nigeria continues to champion education, encourage healthy intellectual competition and create opportunities for young people to discover and develop their potential.

The initiative forms part of MTN’s broader commitment to empowering young Nigerians through digital inclusion, education and platforms that support their growth and future aspirations.
