MTN Sponsors Calabar Carnival 2025: Africa’s Biggest Street Party
Date: December 29, 2025
Location: Calabar
MTN Nigeria sponsored the Calabar Carnival 2025, joining Cross River State in marking the 20th anniversary of Africa’s biggest street carnival. With the theme “Traces of Time”, this year’s edition reflected on two decades of storytelling, heritage, and creative expression that have shaped the carnival into a major cultural attraction.
Throughout December, Calabar played host to a series of activities that celebrated music, art, fashion, and performance, drawing residents, visitors, and tourists from around the world. The build-up created a festive atmosphere across the state, setting the tone for the grand finale.
The main carnival parade took place on 29 December, officially opened by the Governor of Cross River State, His Excellency Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, with the ceremonial ribbon cutting. One after the other, the carnival bands filled the streets with carefully choreographed dances, colourful costumes, and creative interpretations developed over months of preparation.
The parade was a striking display of colour, movement, and cultural pride, offering an immersive experience of Nigeria’s artistic depth and diversity. Through its support of Calabar Carnival 2025, MTN Nigeria once again demonstrated its commitment to celebrating culture and creating moments that bring people together beyond everyday connections.
