On July 18, the Balmoral Convention Centre at the Federal Palace Hotel hosted the 6th edition of the SheCan Nigeria Conference, an inspiring gathering dedicated to equipping women with the knowledge, tools, and confidence to maximise their potential.

The annual conference, themed around empowerment and growth, drew hundreds of women from various professional and personal backgrounds. It featured an exceptional lineup of accomplished female speakers and thought leaders, who shared personal journeys, practical insights, and valuable strategies for advancement in business, career, and life.

Among the notable speakers was our Chief Marketing Officer, Onyinye Ikenna-Emeka. In her address, she spoke on the importance of resilience, self-belief, and the value of building supportive communities around ambition. Her presence reaffirmed MTN’s commitment to promoting gender equity and enabling women to thrive in, and beyond the workplace.

As an organisation, we continue to lead by example, ensuring balanced gender representation within our teams, and launching impactful initiatives like Y’ellopreneur, a programme designed to empower women in underserved communities through capacity building and financial support. This is in addition to other internal and external efforts aimed at creating opportunities for women to succeed and lead.

The SheCan Nigeria 6.0 conference was indeed a movement. Participants left the event energised and encouraged to pursue their goals with renewed purpose. Every panel discussion and keynote underscored a singular, resounding truth: women are not only capable, but they are also powerful change agents who must be supported, equipped, and celebrated.
